SERBISYO MUNA CARAVAN PROGRESSES TO CAINTA


Residents of Cainta, Rizal were in for an early summer treat as the Serbisyo Muna project of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo stopped over at the Cainta Gymnasium in Brgy. San Juan last Friday, March 10.

The Cainta leg of the Serbisyo Muna! Caravan is already twelfth in the series. The one-day activity featured the various socio-civic and developmental programs offered by the different line agencies, the local government as well as the private sector.

Among these programs include a free medical and dental mission conducted by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR), the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PSCO), and the health office of the local government, as well as volunteers from the Department of Education (DepEd), the Department of Health (DOH), the Cainta Hospital UP-Philippine General Hospital and the Philippine National Police-NCR Police Office (NCRPO). More than 3,000 residents benefited from the medical-dental mission.

On the other hand, 756 residents received Philhealth cards.

Meanwhile, residents took advantage of the free issuance National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearances and the hassle-free driver’s license renewal system provided by the Department of Transportation and Communication-Land Transportation Office (DOTC-LTO).

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) meanwhile conducted free processing of passports as it brought its “Passport on Wheels” to the event.

To promote the significance of kabuhayan skills, trainors from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will also be facilitating free livelihood training on haircutting and massage as well as free demonstrations on pulvoron and pastillas making.

“The summer season makes this caravan even more significant to its recipients,” said PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Efraim C. Genuino, the overall project manager of the Serbisyo Muna project.

“For example, delivering services such as TESDA’s livelihood programs gives the people, even students, the opportunity for gainful employment during the vacation period,” he added.

“The free medical checkup, on the other hand, can help safeguard their health from the various illnesses that this season can bring,” the PAGCOR chief pointed out.
Among the other government agencies involved in the Serbisyo Muna are: Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Philippine International Trading Corporation (PITC), the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor and the Public Attorney’s Office, the Department of Energy (DOE), Manila Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS), Manila Water Company Inc. (MWCI), Maynilad Water Services Inc., local government units, NGOs, and representatives from various sectors.
