Serbisyo Muna Caravan visits Pasig

After benefiting more than 5,000 residents from Quezon City, the Sebisyo Muna! Caravan of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo today brings its roster of socio-civic and community development projects to the people of Pasig City.
After a week-long Lenten celebration, President Arroyo’s program springs back to action to bring much-needed basic services direct to the people such as a whole-day, free medical and dental mission.
Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo joined by top government officials led by PAGCOR Chairman Efraim C. Genuino, overall project coordinator of the Serbisyo Muna and Pasig Mayor Vicente Eusebio.
“The participants of the Serbisyo Muna feel very fulfilled with the success of this project. Seeing how we are able to make a difference in the people’s lives through out joint efforts, inspires us to do more for them,” Genuino said.
Other activities during the caravan are: turnover of licenses to operate a Botika ng Barangay outlets to six barangays in Pasig City by the DOH and OPCA; Pagcor’s distribution of 200 pairs of prescription eyeglasses; awarding of 622 PHILHEALTH cards to identified beneficiaries; DFA’s mobile passport, NBI-on-wheels and SSS Online services; DSWD’s food for school program; livelihood programs and demonstrations of skills and free services by TESDA and TLRC; seminars on road ethics by the DOTC and on energy safety practices and efficiency measures by the DOE; presentation of Micro-Finance Institutions (MFIs), lectures on micro-lending; DA’s distribution of assorted vegetable seeds; distribution of information materials by the PIA and Meralco; Serbisyo Muna Assistance by several agencies; and NFA’s deployment of Rolling Stores.
Coinciding with the event, the Pasig City Public Employment Services Office (PESO) will also hold a job fair in front of the Pasig City Hall.

NEW PROGRAMS MARK 22ND SERBISYO MUNA CARAVAN

New programs under the highly-successful Serbisyo Muna Project of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo mark the holding of the 22nd Serbisyo Muna Caravan held recently at the Kalayaan Elementary School, Bgy. Bagong Silang in Caloocan City.

Aside from the usual offerings provided during a Serbisyo Muna Caravan such as free medical, dental and optical services, the new programs include free Paralegal Training to be conducted by the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor and a Solid Waste Management Seminar by EM-Technologies.

Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) Chairman and CEO Efraim C. Genuino, the over-all project manager of Serbisyo Muna, expressed satisfaction in being able to tap more private sector representatives such as EM-Technologies to become actively involved in public service.

“We are very pleased to be able to welcome new partners to the Serbisyo Muna project of the President. At the very least, we see to it that every Serbisyo Muna Caravan leaves great impact in the lives of our countrymen especially the less fortunate ones,” Chairman Genuino said.

Meanwhile, the caravan also featured the distribution of one kilo of rice each to 300 day care children under the Food for School Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Department of Education (DepEd). The 22nd caravan also gave venue to the National Housing Authority’s (NHA) awarding of land titles to some Bagong Silang residents.

These were on top of the usual services offered during caravans such as: PAGCOR’s medical, dental and optical mission conducted in collaboration with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO); free x-ray service brought by the Klinika ni Gloria Mobile X-Ray Van from the Task Force Urban Manila (TFUM); distribution of PhilHealth cards; driver’s license issuance and renewal on-site by the Land Transportation Office (LTO); awarding of license to operate Botika ng Barangay outlets; National Telecommunications Commission’s (NTC) Libreng Tawag sa OFW and mobile business licensing; NBI-on-wheels of the National Bureau Of Investigation.

Other highlights include presentation of livelihood programs and demonstration of skills and free services by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Training and Livelihood Resource Center (TLRC); presentation of Micro-Finance Institutions and lectures on micro-lending delivered by the People’s Credit Finance Corporation (PCFC); Department of Energy’s (DOE) seminar on energy safety and efficiency measures and Department of Transportation and Communication’s road ethics seminar; distribution of assorted vegetable seeds by the Department of Agriculture (DA); Rolling stores deployed by the National Food Authority (NFA) and; beautification and clearing campaign by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Manila Electronic Company (MERALCO).

The Serbisyo Muna project, which was conceptualized by the President, is an all-encompassing, inter-agency endeavor which brings together the various socio-civic and developmental programs of government agencies as well as private sector and non-government organizations. These basic services are brought to community level and are made readily accessible to the people through the Serbisyo Muna Caravan.

Serbisyo Muna brings kababayans closer to relatives abroad

“Kung wala itong Serbisyo Muna, matatagalan pa bago ako makahingi ng tulong sa kamag-anak ko abroad,” shared Navotas resident Marita Duran.

Duran, a widowed mother of four, had been planning for days to call her sister-in-law in the United States to seek educational help for her children. But due to financial constraints, she was not able to until the Serbisyo Muna Caravan brought the Libreng Tawag sa OFW service of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to their locality. She, together with hundreds of Navotas residents benefited from the caravan held at the Navotas Polytechnic College, last week.

The NTC is just one of the participants during the one-day Caravan, a major component of the Serbisyo Muna Project of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The Serbisyo Muna is an umbrella agency which brings together the various socio-civic programs and services of the key line agencies, the local government as well as the private sector and the non-government units.

“President Arroyo’s Serbisyo Muna aims to help our countrymen in the best way we can. And with each caravan we strive harder to help more and more Filipinos,” said Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) Chairman and CEO Efraim C. Genuino, the over-all manager of the Serbisyo Muna project.

Through its Libreng Tawag sa OFC service, the NTC provides free three-minute call overseas and five-minute call nationwide to our countrymen. The agency works hand-in-hand with the biggest telephone companies Smart and Globe to give such service to Filipinos.

“Lubos po akong nagpapasalamat sa proyektong ito ng Pangulong Arroyo. Malaking tulong ito sa aming walang pantawag sa mga kamag-anak sa ibang bansa,” said Duran.

Aside from the Libreng Tawag, the major services offered during the Serbisyo Muna Caravan were free medical, dental and optical services from PAGCOR, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and the Department of Health; the Department of Foreign Affair’s mobile passport service; mobile-x-ray; distribution of Philhealth cards; awarding of license to operate Botika ng Barangay outlets of the DOH and the Office of Political Coalition Affairs; National Bureau of Investigation-on-wheels
